Bilingual Resource and Referral Specialist

Full-time, benefited position will provide a variety of child care referral, technical assistance, translations and interpretation for members of the general public and for Changing Tides Family Services' staff in verbal and written Spanish and English. Will provide simultaneous interpretation services that assists members of the public to understand the types of child care setting available and how to select the child care that best meets their child's and family's needs. Will interview members of the public over the phone or in person to assist completing the subsidy application, explain complex services, policies and requirements to parents, community member and/or child care providers in a mixture of community settings, homes and office settings. Prepares or collates a variety of Spanish materials of distribution to potential or existing child care providers, conducts recruitment activities with regards to child care providers and parents who use child care and may present information to the public and community groups regarding services offered by Changing Tides Family Services and prepare materials for submission to the agency website. Will participate in making site visits for the Child Care Food Program and CalFresh as well as to assist potential licensees to obtain a child care license. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills outlined is the completion of two years of college with course work in early childhood education, social services or a related field. Experience which has involved the explanation of rules and regulations to the public, home visiting, community outreach/education or in a child care setting is desirable.  Must be able to pass a DOJ/FBI level background check, have a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobiles insurance as well as access to a vehicle for work purposes as you may be required to transport presentation equipment and materials. Other requirements include ability to work a pre-arranged schedule on a periodic basis that will include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Child Care Intake Specialist

Full-time, benefited position will assist families as they navigate the complex world of child care options, including subsidized and non-subsidized child care, parent choice programs, center-based child care, licensed and license-exempt child care by interviewing clients and providing child care referrals. Will collect documentation to establish eligibility for subsidized child care by applying program rules and guidelines, calculate income and verify information from other agencies and sources for comparison by analyzing family income with the family fee schedule. May assist with explaining how family fee billing works including how to read the fee Notice of Action and family fee statement and assess family need for social services. Will collaborate with a variety of agencies to coordinate child care services and resources to meet client's needs, explains policies and procedures to clients and with child care providers and may make presentations to providers, community members and/or clients regrading agency services. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills outlined above is two years of college-level coursework in accounting or social services and two years of experience which has involved application and explanation of rules and regulations to the public. Must be able to pass a DOJ/FBI level background check, have a valid California drivers's license and proof of automobiles insurance as well as access to a vehicle for work purposes as you may be required to transport presentation equipment and materials. Other requirements include demonstrated ability to use a calculator or keyboard pad a at the Minimum speed of 80 strokes per minute and speed of 60 words per minute, flexibility to work occasionally during the evenings, weekends, or early mornings as needed. Child Care Case Manager

Full-time, benefited position interviewing and explaining policy and program guidelines to clients and providers according to program guidelines and agency policy. Will maintain and re-certify a caseload of eligible families, provides timely and accurate record to ensure issue of Certificates for Payment or Authorized Child Care Schedules, will maintain and apply knowledge of the regional market rates and analyzes family income to ensure families subject to family fee are charged accurately. Will enter in client information in computer system and prepares and accurately maintains a variety of complex reports and records related to program requirements. Will assist families navigate the child care options, reviews child care payment vouchers to compare with authorized child care schedules, provides child care referrals and will implement Trustline process fo CalWORKS participants. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills required would be two years of college-level course work in accounting or social services and two years of experience which has involved the application and explanation of rules and regulations to the public. Possible varied scheduling to include weekends, evenings and early mornings at a variety of locations throughout Humboldt County. Starts at $15.71/hr. Respite Worker

Skills Specialist

This intermittent position provides behavioral and support services to children and adults who have developmental disabilities; uses intervention strategies that reflect evidence based practices to increase developmentally appropriate skills as overseen by a behavioral consultant; as assigned, performs personal attendant duties; performs related work as assigned.  Work is generally performed within the focus individual’s residence or (as approved) in community settings.  Starts at $15.42/hour plus mileage reimbursement.
