Centralized Eligibility List

What is a Centralized Eligibility List?
Traditionally, each publicly funded child care program with free or low cost care has kept its own list of children waiting to enroll. The Centralized Eligibility List combines all of these lists, eliminates duplicates, and allows all subsidized child care providers in Humboldt County to access children that are eligible for their programs. The term “eligibility” is used to rank families by eligibility factors for subsidized care (family income, size, and need) and not just wait time on the list.

Benefits of the Centralized Eligibility List are that families can access all programs for which they qualify, expanding their opportunity to subsidized care. Providers can potentially pull from a wider net of eligible families. Communities and counties can better address the demand for care, and state and federal funding can be more focused in addressing the needs of waiting families.

Changing Tides Family Services is the central contact for parents who are seeking subsidized child care in any state funded program in Humboldt County. All local programs that receive state funds to help parents with the cost of child care use the Centralized Eligibility List to draw names of families eligible for child care.
